Message Installing some turbos for a customer and see a possible issue. These are used AMS stage 2 turbos from what he told me. I noticed the allignment of the rod on the drivers side was almost straight to the wastegate flapper arm. Normally you see a bit of an angle. So I hooked up an air source to see how well it would work. It doesn't seem to open very far at all. I checked the passenger side as well and it does the same thing. Then I compared them to the stock turbos I took off and there a large difference.

Here is the drivers side AMS:

Is this enough of an issue to worry about? They appear to use stock wastegates with modified arms. But I don't think bolting on the old stockers will work correctly as the rods are different lengths and the position of the wastegate flapper is in different postions too. Would it be worth it to get upgraded wastegates with adjustable rods (Forge, HKS, etc) and modify the flapper mount at the same time so the angle is better? Or jsut throw on the stock watestgates and modify just the flapper mount position? Let me know what you think. I'll have to talk it over with the owner and see what he wants to do in the end. Thanks for any help.
